kanji 1000 Character Classic 03 Kaisho Mug
千字文 (Senjimon / せんじもん / The Thousand Character Classic) was used in ancient China as a textbook for Chinese characters and a model for calligraphy. That was conveyed to Japan.
＊This is the 楷書(かいしょ / Kaisho) of 伊藤桂洲 (いとう けいしゅう / Itō Keishū), a master of calligraphy who was active during the the Edo period to the early Meiji period.
