Dearle was a talented designer who started out as an apprentice under William Morris and later rose to the position of chief textile designer at Morris & Co. Some of the firm's most beautiful woven textiles were created under Dearle's leadership. He continued working at the firm Morris & Co. for many years after William Morris passing in 1896.
