Vintage illustration botanical nature design featuring herbaceous red blooming peonies (Paeonia) from 'Hortus Eystettensis' by Basilius Besler, 1613. Besler was a respected Nuremberg apothecary and botanist, best known for his "Hortus Eystettensis," translated means "The Garden at Eichstätt." He was the curator of the botany garden of Johann Konrad von Gemmingen, prince bishop of Eichstätt in Bavaria.
