The Red Buoy by Paul Signac, Vintage Pointillism Mug

The Red Buoy (La Bouée Rouge) (1895) by Paul Signac is a vintage pointillism fine art nautical maritime painting. There is a beautiful reflection of the buildings in the water. A seascape featuring a Mediterranean Sea port scene with a red buoy and sailboats in the harbor in the city of St. Tropez on the french Riviera in the south of France. About the artist: Paul Victor Jules Signac (1863-1935) was a French neo-impressionist painter who helped develop the pointillist style. With the influence of George Seurat he abandoned the short brushstrokes of impressionism to experiment with scientifically juxtaposed small dots of pure color, intended to combine and blend not on the canvas but in the viewer's eye, the defining feature of pointillism.
