Mount Washington Cog Railway from Waumbek Station Mug
Mount Washington is the tallest of the White Mountains with an elevation of 6288'. Located in New Hampshire, it has a cog railway, a world first and the world's steepest with an average grade of 25%. It is the only railroad in the world with a section at 37.4% grade! I took a ride on the rail to the Waumbek Station in November 2023. A fresh snow had just fallen and I was able to capture part of the tracks continuing up the mountain to the summit. Notice the fire pits in the foreground and think warm thoughts!
