Louis Sullivan Stencil Coffee Mug
The "Chicago Stock Exchange Trading Room: Stencil" is an artwork executed by Adler & Sullivan (American, 1883-1896) and Louis H. Sullivan (American, 1856-1924). It was further executed by Healy and Millet. This stenciled wall covering was part of the trading room in the Chicago Stock Exchange building, a significant commercial project designed by Dankmar Adler and Louis Sullivan. The trading room was a striking double-height space adorned with Sullivan's lush ornamentation and the vibrant, multicolored stenciled wall covering. Unfortunately, the building was demolished after an unsuccessful preservation battle in the late 1960s. The artwork dates back to 1893/94 and is a testament to the distinctive architectural achievements of Adler and Sullivan.
