John Wesley Hardin Mug

John Wesley Hardin was an American outlaw, gunfighter, and controversial folk icon of the Old West. Texas outlaw and killer. Hardin allegedly killed 43 men during his lifetime. He had a run in with Wild Bill Hickok while Hickok was the Sheriff of Abilene, Texas. Bill did not know Hardin was a wanted man as Hardin was using the alias "Wesley Clemmons". Bill asked Hardin to turn in his guns and stay out of trouble, which he did. Hardin studied to be lawyer while in imprisoned in Huntsville prison, he served 17 years of a 25 year sentence for the killing of Deputy Sheriff Charles Webb on May 26th 1874. Hardin passed the state bar exam. John wesley Hardin was eventually shot to death in the back of the head in an El Paso saloon by lawman (former outlaw) John Selman Sr. on August 19th 1895.
