Ishtar Gate mug
The Ishtar Gate was part of the Processional Way into the city of Babylon. It was excavated and recovered in the early decades of the 20th century. It was an ancient commemoration of Ishtar, now known as Venus. The Babylonians were one of the earliest astrology practicing cultures. On this mug, where the opening for the entry in ancient times was, is a background showing the center of the Milky Way galaxy and in the foreground, a diagram of the orbit of Venus over its eight year cycle. This mug celebrates the star of the goddess of love and beauty.
