Fukami Jikyu, Tsukioka Yoshitoshi Coffee Mug
Fukami Jikyu by Tsukioka Yoshitoshi. Tiny cherry blossoms rain down on a walking man. He is depicted from behind, his face in profile. In this woodcut Yoshitoshi evokes the atmosphere of a tranquil spring evening. The full moon is shining, high on the left, and a street lamp is burning on the right. The man in the magnificent kimono is an actor playing the part of Fukami Jikyu, a seventeenth-century otokodate, a Japanese fictional hero. Otokodates fought for the rights of the poor and oppressed. This coloured woodcut formed part of the series One hundred views of the moon , for which Yoshitoshi is especially famous.
