Colorful Reality of Life Mug

This alcohol ink painting ( blown with a straw ) I made depicts the progression of the COVID-19 Pandemic. All colors have meanings, so I chose to tell my interpretation of the pandemic with only color: The upper left corner starts with a concentration of BLACK and GRAYS. This was the ‘beginning’ when COVID came to America. Black is strong, sad, intimidating, dominating, powerful and reflects the unknown. It is ominous, it can be depressing, and often it resembles death. Then come the REDS which are full of compassion for love and life. PURPLES and PINKS surround the reds and represent helping those in need with calmness. Falling down the left side under black is BROWN: which stands for stability in a time of crisis. ORANGE, located in the middle, represents healing rejuvenation with energetic respect toward all our contacts. In the upper right, BLUES are spilling downward with calmness, truth and thinking of other’s needs, often sprinkled with some sorrow and sadness. Under the blues, the GREENS are vibrantly displayed because they represent new beginnings, compassion, and the holistic healing of health. YELLOWS are bright and sunny, happy, and oozing hopefulness. This bold color creates a time of learning …along with sharing that knowledge with others. Gradually, the little white dots increase through the artwork as they approach the lower right corner which is solid WHITE and full of them. White represents peace, purity, and clean feelings as we look forward to a positive and optimistic future. For all my other original watercolor paintings in the shop, I use the 'limited palette'. Red, Yellow, Blue. This produces all the shades and hues you see in my paintings. Red, yellow and blue transparent watercolor in both warm and cool shades can be mixed to obtain any color in the spectrum. I find there is more control over the final results. My artwork covers a wide range of subjects. I paint whimsically humorous, one-of-a-kind art to serious fine art. However, my passion is painting portraiture of animals and people. I love to capture the emotion of the moment. Both subjects have their own personalities. This makes the end result very challenging AND rewarding. My primary medium is watercolor. However, I also work with graphite, pen and ink, and most recently ALCOHOL INKS, BLOWN WITH A STRAW, and photography. This particular piece of art looks fantastic when printed on the canvas gloss option. Direct link to my shop: https://www.zazzle.com/nanwright?rf=238428852843633817
