Frogs are considered fortunate in many cultures. The spiritual meaning of the frog is one of good luck, wealth and prosperity, balance, health and healing, springtime, music, voice and vocal talents, moon magic, romantic love, friends, community and celebration. Frogs and other amphibians are associated with elemental magic because they live in both Earth and Water environments, and also with transformation magic as they change from swimming larvae, such as tadpoles, to adults that are mobile on land. Even frogs that live in drier environments, or spend all their lives in trees, need water to spawn. In folklore and ancient medicine, the frog relates to organic health in part due to its highly sensitive skin, which was often used by shamans in medicine rites. Almost all frogs are found in freshwater wetland habitats, with the exception of a couple of species that have adapted to brackish water. There are no marine frogs or other amphibians.
