Beethoven Symphony No. 9 Mug
The design was adapted from the original choral part used at the U.S. premiere of Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony performed by the New York Philharmonic on May 20, 1846. The concert took place at Castle Garden, located in Battery Park on the southern tip of Manhattan, and the Schiller text was sung in English by a 300-member chorus.
All proceeds go to support the New York Philharmonic Archives in their work to preserve and make available the invaluable treasures of America’s oldest symphony orchestra founded in 1842. To learn more visit http://archives.nyphil.org/
The Archives logo is a modified nineteenth-century stamp that was used to identify all music owned by the Orchestra.
