Assyrian Tree of Life Coffee Mug
Design carefully based on an ancient Assyrian cylinder seal belonging to the Mushezib-Ninurta, governor of Shadikanni (Arban in eastern Syria) in 883 BCE. It shows the governor on each side of the Tree of Life, or the 'good' tree, and behind him stands a winged deity. They are involved in a ceremony where above them is the god Ashur or perhaps the sun god Shamash who is sending down rays or waves to Mushezib-Ninurta. In the center stands the ornamental tree which is depicted bearing pomegranate fruits. The original cylinder seal is in the British Museum.
