Art for doctors! Sinus Surgery ENT Mug
Concha Bullosa Coffee Mug!
For this painting I have taken the forms created by a coronal CT scan through the face and reinvented the spaces using color and line. It was important to me that the lines flowed smoothly through the composition to insinuate the movement of air through the sinuses. The concha bullosa is visible in shades of white in the center of the painting. "Concha bullosa refers to an enlargement or ballooning of the nasal turbinate with air. It is a normal anatomic variant, but occasionally, a concha bullosa can be very large and contribute to sinus obstruction. In these cases, the concha bullosa can be readily reduced by surgery. Scanning at this level also highlights other intra-nasal anatomy revealing several sinuses, the nasal septum, and the location of the orbit.
