The year is 1917 and the American firearm designer John Moses Browning one the finest firearm designers of the 20th century as created a new medium machine gun. The American Military designate it the M1919 Browning Medium Machine Gun.
Taking cues from his earlier M1917 water cooled model he made the jump to air cooled with a caliber of .30-06. This medium gun requires a two to four man team and the firearm runs at 400 - 600 rounds per minute.
The gun is well suited for detouring infantry and lightly armored vehicles. It can be set up in a static position or mounted on tanks , light vehicles and aircraft.
This firearm is still in use to day all and over the world.
With the addition of the M60 with it’s 7.62 NATO round to the US inventory, the M1919 was reduced to a secondary role. This medium machine gun has been used in conflicts all around the world since WW1.
