1880s Ferris Common Sense Corsets ad Coffee Mug
From an 1880s woman’s magazine in my possession. Note that back in the day, no self-respecting woman would go out without wearing a corset. In one of the Laura Ingalls Wilder books, there’s an account of the girls - around age 10 or so – SLEEPING in corsets. Apparently, every means was taken to make sure that the girls would one day snag a husband. Mind-blowing today, but back then snagging a husband, and by age 20 or so at the latest, was a girl’s number one priority. To wait too much longer was risk the possibility of a sad life of spinsterhood. Thus ends the history lesson.
Enjoy the image – which looks neat on all kinds of EVERYTHING - while enjoying not having to wear a corset. Note that the ad ad appears on both sides of the mug, which is nice.
